Mary Lou Tipgos gives a lot to SOS as a volunteer and a donor–including her husband Manny, who serves as our full-time volunteer accountant! This evening, after giving 23 years of service to Baptist Health, Mary Lou received a wonderful retirement gift; Baptist Health will be sponsoring a 40-ft container to the Philippines in honor of all Mary Lou gives!
Last December, after Typhoon Haiyan devastated communities across the Philippines, Mary Lou and Manny travelled home to the Philippines to assess the situation, forge partnerships with on-the-ground NGOs, and find a way to work with SOS to help. Already Mary Lou and Manny have helped to raise the funds needed in order to send a container that will be used to rebuild hospitals across the island of Cebu that were destroyed by Haiyan.
This gift from Baptist will be used to reach Bantayan Municipal Hospital , a little hospital in the Philippines that serves thousands and whose amenities were decrepit long before Haiyan.
