In July, 2021, SOS shipped a container to the Democratic Republic of Congo full of life-saving medical supplies and equipment. The country suffers from extreme poverty where 73% of the Congolese population (60 million people) lives on less than $1.90 a day. In addition, COVID cases were surging with the CDC placing it at level 4 (the highest for COVID). After a few weeks at sea, the container arrived and a joyful ceremony of thanks was held to dedicate these valuable and critically needed supplies to several hospitals. At SOS, our team painstakingly labels each box with a detail list of what the box holds allowing our partners on the ground to quickly retrieve what they need for urgent cases while taking time to unpack. The SOS process gave medical staff easy efficient access to the supplies needed to help save the life of a new baby.
